SOLD OUT – Choice 1: 30- Hour Classroom Educator Training

This is the Classroom Educator 30-hour training led by Dawn Nieman, Fellow and Board Member of the Orton-Gillingham Academy. This training is designed for anyone interested in learning more about how to teach reading using explicit, emotionally sound, and multisensory instruction. This training is a prerequisite to the next 30-hour training (Associate Level). Certification by the Academy is a separate contract from this course. Please note that this is a VIRTUAL TRAINING. YOU MUST ATTEND AT LEAST 24 OF THE 30 HOURS LIVE TO BE AWARDED AN ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE. Sessions will be recorded so you can view them again for review or to catch up on missed content. Attendees are expected to participate in daily assignments and quizzes.

Classroom Educator is geared toward small group settings should you wish to pursue practicum, whereas Associate Level (full 60 hours) allows for groups and one-on-one instructional settings.

Please note LIVE training times: Monday, June 13 – 17, 2022, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM Eastern Time. Breaks will be provided.

Pre-Req: Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.

This is the Associate Level 30-hour training led by Dawn Nieman, Fellow and Board Member of the Orton-Gillingham Academy. The first 30 hours is a prerequisite for participation. This second 30 hours will provide the participant with a more in-depth understanding of the Orton-Gillingham Approach and lesson planning. This part of the course will introduce the trainee to more advanced morphology, including Greek and Latin roots. In addition, the second thirty hours of the course will look at the role of assessment in the planning of instruction. Certification is a separate contract from this prerequisite course. Please note that this is a VIRTUAL TRAINING. YOU MUST ATTEND AT LEAST 24 (of the 30) LIVE HOURS TO BE AWARDED AN ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE. This is the Classroom Educator AND Associate Level 60-hour training led by Dawn Nieman, Fellow and Board Member of the Orton-Gillingham Academy. This training is designed for anyone interested in learning more about how to teach reading using explicit, emotionally sound, and multisensory instruction. Both levels of training will be provided over 10 days (60 hours).This extensive training is a prerequisite to pursuing practicum and certification by the Academy, which is a separate contract from this course. Please note that this is a VIRTUAL TRAINING. YOU MUST ATTEND AT LEAST 24 LIVE HOURS OF EACH OF THE TWO 30-HOUR TRAININGS TO BE AWARDED AN ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE. Sessions will be recorded so you can view them again for review or to catch up on missed content. Please note that attendees are expected to participate in class assignments and quizzes.
