We provide varying levels of support for students who may be struggling in academic subject areas at school. If a student is capable of performing at grade level but needs a little bit of assistance to keep up, we can offer academic support. Using current classroom concepts and skills, we provide individualized instruction to guide the student toward understanding and growth.
This type of academic support is for all kinds of learners from preK - adult and includes instruction in reading, writing, math. We support high school students in advanced math and science classes.
When a student demonstrates a more significant academic gap or characteristics of a learning disability, such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, or dyscalculia, more intensive intervention services are recommended. Intervention is personalized therapy that addresses the foundational academic gap.
Our individual intervention services begin with an action plan. To determine the action plan, we gather baseline information from formal academic testing or a comprehensive educational evaluation (also known as a psycho-educational evaluation) to determine a starting point for instruction. Assessments also provide us with information on the best approaches and strategies to tackle underlying difficulties.
Intervention utilizes multisensory, explicit instruction that is personalized for each individual student’s needs. Gold-standard approaches, such as Orton-Gillingham, are emotionally-sound and taught in a multisensory fashion. This allows for a relationship of trust and respect, while providing opportunities for feedback and growth.
Students find the benefits of personalized direct instruction to be empowering and success-focused. At EtB we recognize that students who learn differently often have many gifts. Providing instruction that facilitates the learning process offers a way for students to discover their gifts and rediscover a love of learning. All learners can think, learn, and grow.
Ongoing progress monitoring is incorporated into the student’s sessions to make sure the personalized prescriptive model is moving in a positive and productive direction. Our specialists work closely with families and other providers so that skills are being generalized across settings. Students and families can track student progress and access information via a personal Google folder. Families that need additional guidance may request school support or consultation support.
Most of our academic support services can also be delivered virtually, using engaging and interactive distance learning platforms.

“Wounded learners,” who struggle with behavioral, emotional, or anxiety-related issues as their primary challenge, may benefit from working with one of our Learning Specialists. Additionally, if a student struggles with executive functioning and it is impacting organization and time management, we offer executive functioning coaching.
