Application Process

Step 1: Submit the Initial Application
Families begin by completing the NPLG Initial Application and paying the $25 application fee (not FES eligible). This allows our team to learn more about your child’s learning profile, needs, and goals.

Step 2: Director Follow-Up
After reviewing the application, an NPLG Director will be in touch to discuss your child in more detail. This outreach may take place via phone or email and may include scheduling a Shadow Day, if appropriate.

Step 3: Shadow Day
Students participate in a Shadow Day to experience NPLG programming firsthand. This allows both the student and our team to better assess fit within our learning environment.

Step 4: Registration Invitation

If the student is determined to be a potential fit for NPLG, a formal registration invitation will be issued to the family.

✔️ Registration, including $500 deposit, must be received within 7 days of the offer to secure placement.

Our focus is on students, not just the curriculum.

We utilize a Kanban-style goal-setting template, incorporating the same web-based collaborative planning tools used in the workforce.

We want to empower students and support them as they become adults.

  • Milanote
  • Miro boards
  • Canva, google etc....

Why learn this way?

  • Students work on goals individual to them.
  • Collaboration is key which meets each student's need for socialization.
  • Students buy into an authentic customized learning plan that they design with our help.
  • No need to wait for the whole class to "get it". Learners can move at their own pace.
  • Learning is agile and fluid and moves with the student. When one goal is complete, we are ready to move on to the next one. Projects are structured and have built in support.

Independence & Responsibility

At-home expectations

NPLG High is a program focused on the student. Each family will select their own curricula and areas of study. (Assistance and guidance is available.) It is important that students arrive on time. The day begins with highly engaging, high-interest, and high energy activities. Goals are written, analyzed, and tweaked as students work through executive functioning skills, such as organization, preparation, and designing an action plan. Students will use this action plan to get their goals accomplished. During the Academic Sprint, students will work on their studies, receive coaching, explanations, and guidance to master concepts. This two-hour block is a non-negotiable working time. An extended lunch period encourages socialization and cooperation. The final hour of the class is the Creative Sprint, which consists of independent STEM related project-based activities. Students will experience learning, which consists of failing and winning with each discovery. This agile learning environment is student-centric, which allows students to gain confidence, independence, and readiness to be in charge of their own learning.
