Executive Functioning Coaching - Helping Students with an Educational Evaluation

When it comes to helping students thrive, there are several key components to overall success that go beyond the academic subject areas. Students’ emotional well-being is important. When school feels consistently difficult, anxiety can begin to build. Anxiety can get in the way of productivity if students feel overwhelmed. Difficulty with attention and focusing can also hinder academic progress. While anxiety can lead to distractibility, other students may have a diagnosed attention deficit.

At Engage the Brain, we cannot directly treat anxiety or attention challenges, but our Learning Specialists can incorporate strategies to help students manage the ways in which these difficulties influence academic success. We do offer executive functioning coaching, which can be helpful to students struggling with anxiety and/or attention challenges. Executive functioning refers to one’s ability to manage time effectively, plan ahead, stay organized, and regulate emotions. With assistance managing these types of tasks, students can come to feel that they have control over balancing the elements that contribute to success.
